COMMERCIAL LOCK REKEY

Control Who Has Access to Your Business

When employees change, keys go missing, tenants move out, or you're simply unsure who has copies of your building keys, replacing every lock usually isn't necessary.

NorthWest Lock & Key provides professional commercial lock rekeying for businesses, offices, retail spaces, rental properties, facilities, and other commercial properties.

Rekeying changes the internal configuration of compatible locks so existing keys no longer work. We then provide new keys for the people you authorize.

Call (360) 661-8298 to schedule commercial lock rekeying service.

What Is Commercial Lock Rekeying?

Rekeying allows you to change which key operates a lock without necessarily replacing the complete lock or door hardware.

A locksmith changes the internal components of the lock cylinder so it operates with a new key. Once the lock has been rekeyed, the previous key will no longer operate that cylinder.

For businesses with quality commercial hardware already installed, this can be a practical and cost-effective way to regain control over access to the property.

Rekeying After an Employee Leaves

Employee turnover is one of the most common reasons businesses have their locks rekeyed. Even when an employee returns their assigned key, there's no guarantee additional copies weren't made.

If you're concerned about previous employees, contractors, vendors, or other individuals having access to your building, rekeying allows you to issue new keys without automatically replacing all of the existing lock hardware.

Lost or Stolen Business Keys

A missing commercial key can create a security concern, especially when the key can be connected to a particular business or building.

Simply making another copy doesn't prevent the missing key from being used.

NorthWest Lock & Key can rekey compatible locks so the lost or stolen key no longer provides access and issue new keys to authorized personnel.

New Business or Commercial Property

Moving into a new commercial space?

Even if you've received keys from the previous tenant, property owner, or manager, you may not know how many copies were previously distributed.

Keys may still be held by:

  • Previous employees

  • Former tenants

  • Contractors

  • Vendors

  • Cleaning companies

  • Maintenance personnel

  • Previous property managers

  • Other unidentified key holders

Rekeying your locks gives your business a fresh starting point and allows you to establish who should have access moving forward.

Rekey Multiple Doors to the Same Key

Commercial properties often accumulate different locks and keys over the years.

If the existing hardware uses compatible keyways, NorthWest Lock & Key may be able to rekey multiple doors so they operate with the same key.

This can reduce the number of keys employees and managers need to carry and simplify everyday access throughout the property.

Commercial Master Key Systems

Need more control than simply having every door use the same key?

A master key system can allow different employees to access specific areas while providing managers or authorized personnel with broader access.

For example, individual employee keys might operate only designated doors while a master key operates multiple or all locks within the system.

Master key systems can be useful for:

  • Office buildings

  • Retail properties

  • Apartment and rental properties

  • Warehouses

  • Assisted living facilities

  • Schools and community buildings

  • Maintenance departments

  • Multi-tenant properties

  • Commercial facilities

NorthWest Lock & Key can evaluate your existing hardware and help determine whether a master key system makes sense for your property.

Commercial Locks We Can Rekey

We service many common types of commercial lock cylinders and door hardware.

Depending on the existing system, we may be able to rekey:

  • Commercial lever locks

  • Commercial knob locks

  • Deadbolts

  • Mortise cylinders

  • Rim cylinders

  • Storefront door locks

  • Adams Rite-style lock cylinders

  • Panic and exit device cylinders

  • Keypad locks with mechanical cylinders

  • Interchangeable core systems

  • Other compatible commercial lock hardware

We'll inspect your existing locks and determine which hardware can be rekeyed before recommending replacement.

Storefront Lock Rekeying

Aluminum storefront doors use specialized commercial lock hardware that differs from typical residential doors.

NorthWest Lock & Key provides rekeying for many storefront lock cylinders and can also evaluate worn, damaged, or malfunctioning storefront hardware.

If you operate a retail store, office, restaurant, or other business with aluminum storefront doors, we can help consolidate keys or change access when necessary.

Rekeying vs. Replacing Commercial Locks

If your commercial locks are functioning properly and you simply need to change who has access, rekeying is often the better option.

Rekeying allows you to keep compatible existing hardware while changing the keys that operate it.

Lock replacement may be appropriate when hardware is damaged, heavily worn, unreliable, incompatible with your desired key system, or when you're upgrading the security or function of the door.

We'll evaluate your existing hardware and explain your options before recommending unnecessary replacement.

Commercial Key Control

As a business grows, keeping track of physical keys becomes increasingly important.

A commercial rekey is a good opportunity to establish a more organized key system and determine exactly which employees should receive access.

Depending on your needs, we can discuss options such as:

  • Keyed-alike locks

  • Master key systems

  • Restricted or controlled key systems

  • High-security lock cylinders

  • Electronic and keypad access

  • Access control systems

The right solution depends on the size of the property, number of users, and level of access control you need.
